Benninghoff Announces PENNVEST Grant to Safeguard Water Quality in Centre County Municipality
July 15, 2026
HARRISBURG – The Madisonburg Water Works (MWW) has been awarded an $875,000 grant by the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), according to state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin).
“I applaud the board of directors for taking the initiative to undertake the grant process and bring this particular need to my attention,” Benninghoff said. “This project is an example of the many benefits that are available to communities statewide through PENNVEST and demonstrates how government can work responsibly to improve our overall quality of life in the Commonwealth.”
The grant will be used to make infrastructure improvements that will ensure the water system can safely inactivate microorganisms like viruses and bacteria from the water supply. In addition, a new chemical vault, which securely houses hazardous materials, flammable liquids and toxic substances, will be purchased.
MWW serves approximately 250 customers within Miles Township and the surrounding area.
PENNVEST is an independent agency of the Commonwealth providing financial assistance to fund construction of drinking water, sewer and stormwater projects in communities throughout Pennsylvania.
