Benninghoff Applauds Awarding of More Than $379,000 in Local Fire/EMS Grants

HARRISBURG - Fire and emergency response organizations in the 171st Legislative District are set to receive more than $157,000 in funding under the Fire Company and Emergency Medical Service Grant Program, according to state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin).

“With so many of our emergency services relying on volunteers, these grants are a vital investment in public safety,” said Benninghoff. “This funding will help our local departments with everything from equipment upgrades to training costs, ensuring they can continue providing the outstanding emergency response our residents count on.”

Grant recipients are as follows:

  • Bellefonte EMS - $15,000.
  • Belleville Fire Co. - $15,030.
  • Big Valley EMS - $15,000.
  • Brooklyn Hose Co. - $12,448.
  • Centre Hall Fire Co. - $13,309.
  • Centre Lifelink EMS - $15,000.
  • City Hook and Ladder - $12,663.
  • Fame EMS - $15,000.
  • Granville Fire Co. - $12,233.
  • Gregg Township Fire Co. - $12,018.
  • Junction Fire Co. - $15,461. 
  • Logan Fire Co. - $16,322.
  • McVeytown Ambulance - $15,000.
  • Miles Township Fire Co. - $12,018.
  • Millheim Fire Co. - $13,739.
  • Milroy Hose Co. (fire) - $12,018.
  • Milroy Hose Co. (EMS) - $15,000.
  • New Lancaster Valley Fire Co. - $12,233.
  • Newton-Wayne Fire Co. - $13,739.
  • Penns Valley EMS - $15,000.
  • Pleasant Gap Fire Co. - $15,246.
  • Pleasant Gap EMS - $15,000.  
  • Reedsville Volunteer Fire Co. - $13,309.
  • Undine Fire Co. - $15,030. 
  • United Fire and Rescue - $15,000.
  • West Granville Fire Co. - $13,309. 
  • Walker Township Fire Co. - $13,955.

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature which is administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.

All companies that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. Companies must file a grant agreement with OSFC to receive their grants.
